Wrangell Comprehensive Plan

Sheinberg Associates is currently assisting the City and Borough of Wrangell in preparing its first Comprehensive Plan for the new borough and updating the zoning code and map.

This project involves working with the Planning Commission and Borough staff to compile current information about infrastructure, economic development, transportation, land use, and public facilities and services.

A community opinion survey, two town meetings and several work sessions were used to gather public input. The planning team also held meetings in five remote communities to discuss zoning and future growth maps and followed up by mailing a newsletter and questionnaire to each property owner. A draft plan is now being developed that will review existing conditions, project future community needs and suggest policies and actions. New zoning districts and maps have been created for the remote areas and updates to the zoning code are underway. Current land use maps, ownership, zoning and future growth maps have also been created as part of this project.
